Sunset's Best Seafood Restaurant Reviews

Hard to beat the quality of food for the price. This is a old-school Chinese restaurant, don't expect the inside to be fancy. Expect the food to be delicious and fast with a good price. Flavor is good, the front door cleanliness is not.

This is a hidden gem. The food is delicious, not oily. The fried rice with chicken and salted fish is spot on no fishy smell. The walnut prawns are huge , is not too sweet or too savory, the walnuts are crunchy and doesn't taste like candy. The server is such a sweet old fashioned guy, he is courteous, engaging and reminds me of the friendly uncle we all have . The restaurant is simple but you really feel at home. I was only picking up but I was offered tea and a chair to sit on. I really appreciate the hospitality and service they give . While I was there I saw a couple of people picking up their orders and as they say if Chinese people order from a Chinese restaurant they are very good. Easily accessible and easy to find using Muni.

You do not come here for ambience but it is great family own restaurant. The food is delicious. The salt and pepper shrimps are crunchy and perfectly fried. Great for casual dinning. The waiter is friendly and takes care of everyone. As we sat there we can tell that is a popular place for people to get take outs. We can't wait to go back to try some more seafood dishes.

My family and I came here last Saturday for dinner. We love all the dishes we ordered. I especially like the crab noodles. The waiter there is awesome too! We would come back whenever we are in the area and craving for seafood and cantonese foods!

Our family go to place when we don't want make dinner. Our favorite dishes cod with string beans and water egg beef chow fun. It is very delicious. Friendly and quick service. Recommend if you enjoy Cantonese food

WE LOVE this place. First of all, the gentleman running/managing it is a sweetheart. But the food. I mean - Who goes to a neighborhood Chinese restaurant for the ambience?? Hello? So, fish maw soup: a must. Had it all 3 times we've been. Comfort. Hard to beat. Eventually we'll try something else. No hurry. Im guessing it's the chef-owner cooking. Super steady hand. Never a seasoning misstep. Pretty near perfection on all fronts: seafood doneness, crispiness of breading/fried coatings, not a spec of greasiness, S&P preparations all have excellent salt and pepper ratio, the flavor profiles on sauces --- dude, way more nuanced and interesting than fare from 80-90% of other restaurants. This is why you seek out places like this. So first off, the tea: very decent. Loose in a strainer. Not tea bags shoved under the lid. I must have drunk a pot and 1/2. (knuckle tap on table) So, fish maw soup, perfect. Even my chef bud Wesley and his Pastry chef wife Sheryl had seconds - as did I. Then the house came down. Perfect bite-sized Salt and Pepper cod, Green beans w crispy exotic fruit pieces or whatever was in there. Walnut Prawns - deconstructed. Love that presentation. Everyone should do it. Oh yeah, steamed huge oysters in the shell. Just right. Awesome perfect light seasoning that highlights but doesn't take over. What else? Oh yeah, beef w mushroom and long bean. How does this guy get these chunks so tender AND flavorful. Tiny pork riblets in a sauce I've never had elsewhere. Is that it? Six + soup. Hardly a leftover. Pretty unusual for us. Generally we're taking home at least enough for 2 lunch and a snack reheats. Mmmm. Cold night. 5 of us. Drives the appetite. No desserts no silly frills. But there's 2-3 stores next door w boba, pastry, mochi style desserts. Oh, and The Gelato KING : **Marco Polo** just up the street Where nowadays, skipping a mortgage payment will get you the small cup w 3 flavors. Ah, the trickle-down effects of gentrification and #newtimey business acumen. lol Ok, so go ahead y'all. Keep being unimpressed by 3.5 stars overall. Keep staying away on Friday and Saturday nights. Just cementing my ability to get a table and not have to hear that they've run out of all specials except the chicken feet. Hey, if you know, you know. And if you don't..... enjoy your sweet n sour pork. With canned pineapple.

Been craving salt and pepper tofu for a while, and parents recommended this place for lunch. Arrived on Saturday at around noon, and it was busy. Husband and wife team man the kitchen and only one waiter at the front. He's very friendly and tries to ensure all the tables' needs are being met. We ordered: 1) Salt and pepper tofu - Arrived hot and crispy - definitely satisfied the craving. 2) Salt and pepper chicken - Also arrived hot and crispy. Too much batter for me, but mom and kiddo really enjoyed this dish. 3) Lotus root and black fungus - Last time I had this here, the seasoned wok flavor came through. It was missing this time, but was still an enjoyable dish. 4) Braised fish and tofu - tasty 5) Taro and preserved meat fried rice - Probably one of my fave fried rice. Although, like the lotus root, this time missing that seasoned wok flavor - still good, though. 6) Sweet and sour pork - No pineapples in this dish like other places, which tends to be my fave part but the pork was crispy in the sauce. Not too sweet. When busy, could take a minute for the food to arrive. However, everything arrived hot. Satisfying meal.
